Elizabeth Turner
Elizabeth sees a range of clients, but most frequently works with young adults and couples. Here are some of her thoughts on couples counseling. Committing oneself to another person can be one of the most challenging components of life; even on a good day. When the responsibilities and stressors that come with maintaining a household, work, perhaps raising children and /or having a blended family, and sustaining relationships with family and friends are added, they can have overwhelming, negative effects on your relationship. Managing all this can be mentally and physically taxing and may feel impossible to overcome. However, conflicts are unavoidable in intimate relationships and can result in growth when couples use communication. I am committed to providing an environment without blaming, criticizing, or judgement. In counseling, there will be active-listening, problem-solving, and development of strategies, to help cultivate a thriving intimate relationship.
“For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.” Kahlil Gibran. This is one of my favorite quotes. It reminds me to not blame the past for the present circumstances.
